Ray Hunt - Master of Communication

The invited presenters were chosen and are being honored specifically for their dedication to the horse and to Ray Hunt's legacy; a legacy that includes inspiration of Ray's teacher and friend, Tom Dorrance.

Each of the participants were given forty-five minutes for their presentations - working with a young horse. Horses for the event are being provided by Wood Ranch and were offered for sale by private treaty. click here to see papers on these horses. This was not a competition; rather it was an opportunity to honor both the horse and Ray's memory. The presentations were critiqued not as to how much was accomplished, but more importantly, how it was accomplished and how the needs of each horse were met by the presenter. Each audience member was given the chance to vote for the presenter they sw as most embodying the ideals Ray worked to instill in all of us.

Charlie Hill was recognized as the audience's choice for the the best demonstration and he received one of Ray's personal Dale Harwood saddles. Each presenter received a piece of Ray’s personal tack in recognition of their skill, and as Ray would say their "try".

SATURDAY 27^th

8 am Opening introduction of presenters with a drawing out of a hat to match a presenter with their horse and determine the order of presentation. Each rider will be given equal amount of time to work with their horse.

9 am thru 6 pm Presentations.

7 pm Banquet in the adjoining hall.

8 pm Memorial slide show and auction of Ray’s personal tack.

SUNDAY 28^th

8am Presentations continue.

4 pm All horses are brought back into the arena and given a last chance to show.

Immediately following the presentations each audience member will receive a ballot to vote for the presenter that they feel best employed Ray’s methods/teachings while working with their horse. The participant receiving the greatest number of votes will be awarded Ray’s Dale Harwood saddle. Additionally, each participant will receive a piece of Ray's personal tack for participating.
