The Source
Ray Hunt™ was a pioneer who devoted his life to "helping the horse get a better deal.™" Today, our family views the Ray Hunt name, his logo, brand, and the "Think"™ mark not merely as trademarks, but as a sacred trust.
When we protect these symbols, we are protecting the purity of the message Ray and Carolyn shared with the world. We ask our community to honor this by ensuring that any use of these marks is done in direct partnership with the Ray and Carolyn Hunt family, keeping the work authentic and close to the heart of the source.

“Consistency in all elements: Ray and Carolyn Hunt with Jaton Lord during a family fishing trip to Alaska circa 1990’s”
The Partnership: Two Hearts, One Purpose
The formal line of authority for this era of the archive began in 1980, when Ray and Carolyn were married in Montana. It was the start of a transformative chapter—one that saw Ray’s philosophy reach an even broader global audience. While Ray’s roots were already deep in the traditions of the West, it was this shared mission with Carolyn that built the international road they traveled together for decades.
The Strength Behind the Signal
Carolyn worked tirelessly to coordinate a global schedule. Back in the 1980s and early ’90s—keeping everything organized required land lines, fax machines and determination. They followed the work wherever it led, from the corrals of British Columbia to the traditional arenas of Spain, and countless places in between. The miles were long and the work was demanding, but they embraced it all because Ray and Carolyn believed the horses were worth the effort.
The Personal Archive: Alaska
Beyond the arenas and highway miles, the partnership was anchored in the quiet, unscripted moments of family life. In the mid-90s, the family gathered in the wild reaches of Alaska for a fishing trip that has become a cherished memory. These photographs offer a rare glimpse into Ray and Carolyn’s life together. Here he is—ever the outdoorsman, mid-stream in chest waders with his signature cowboy hat firmly in place.

Clarity for the Next Generation
To maintain a clear path for students, the Ray Hunt Estate remains independent. At this time, we do not authorize, endorse, or affiliate with third-party foundations, 501(c) non-profit entities, or unauthorized scholarship funds, solicitations, or memberships. While many wish to honor Ray’s memory, keeping his legacy separate from outside fundraising ensures that his teachings remain the primary focus, free from the influence of outside organizations. By respecting this boundary, you help us prevent confusion and ensure that the horsemanship community always knows where to find the genuine, family-endorsed resources that represent Ray’s true life’s work.

A Community of Stewards
We are deeply moved by the students who continue to "Whistle, Grin, and Ride™" alongside Ray’s memory. We invite you to ride this trail with us as partners in stewardship. When you notify us of unofficial merchandise, independent fundraising, or public events using Ray’s likeness without family involvement, you are helping us preserve the legacy. We thank you for your loyalty and for helping us keep the "Fair Deal" alive for every horse and human who seeks the truth in Ray’s philosophy.
